Trees and Green Infrastructure Work Group [1]
Co-Chairs: Karen Miller, millerkaren@co.kane.il.us [2] and Robyn Flakne, rflakne@glenview.il.us [3]
The role of the Trees and Green Infrastructure Work Group is to prioritize the Illinois Urban Forest Action Plan [4] for the Chicago Region, while addressing gaps in knowledge, training, and policy regarding use of trees as green infrastructure [5]. This group is responsible for providing support for the Chicago Wilderness Biodiversity Recovery Plan [6], assisting with integration of the Chicago Wilderness Green Infrastructure Vision [7] into forest mapping and planning priorities, and developing templates and workshops for comprehensive plans and community ordinances. This group is also coordinating efforts to celebrate OAKtober- Oak Awareness Month [8] in October.
